Beautiful Picture

Review Date: December 21, 2009
Reviewer: James Voris, London, UK
I've had the set for 30 days now. I had some early concerns on the whole Edge-Lighting thing but they turned out to be frivolous. The picture has been outstanding. Played Dark Knight and Underworld, and the set handled the contrasts and deep blacks superbly.

The thin design is a work of art. My set sits on a console (not mounted) and sets the room off nicely; no visible wires and elegant design.

The streaming functions are a nice feature; good integration with Amazon and Netflix. However, I'm pouzzled as to why there doesn't appear to be a way to access free internet content via portals like Hulu, TV network sites and such, without a laptop. (Or I haven't figured it out yet.)

One mild annoyance that has more to do with Sony than the XBR10: No wireless internet dongle available from Sony. The Samsung version only works with Samsung products. So if you don't have a Ethernet port nearby, you'll need a wireless bridge to use a wireless home network.
Best TV in the world

I've had my KDL52-XBR10 since mid-December. WOW! Beautiful design. The picture quality is mind-blowing. Watching the Winter Olympics in HD is amazing, you can see every hair in detail. The colors are spectacular and the blacks are DEEP. 240 Hz Motion Flow makes everything smooth. The picture is spectacular right out of the box, but you also have complete control over picture (and sound). Settings, inputs, Internet, and other options are accessible via the well-thought out on-screen Xcross Media Bar. To access the Internet or your home network directly from the XBR10, you'll either need a hard-wired Ethernet connection between the XBR10's media box and your router, or a wireless bridge (e.g. Linksys WET610N) connected to the media box to access your wireless router (e.g. Linksys WRT610N). I chose the wireless option and it works flawlessly.
XBR10 : Window on the world!

Review Date: April 27, 2010
Reviewer: Claude Lanouette, Montréal QC CANADA
Owning this set since December, and after viewing many series like the Tudor or Rome, plus many Criterion and BBC Opus Arte Blu-Rays, having also this set hooked to a PS3 to enjoy 1080p racing games like Gran Turismo, there is only one expression to summarize the viewing experience : a window on the world! The latest shock : Avatar!

Previously ownner of a XBR 800 CRT 34 incher, jumping to 52 inches was an incredible experience. But please don't sit too far! Consider that this size is now a new way to look at programs. 1080p can be easily viewed across a TV table, between the couch and the TV furniture.

You can put it on your best table or buffet, as a work of art : no cumbersome wires running into it, since the receiver is in a separate box.

Of course, you pay more, but you get much more, very much more.
Review of Sony LCD LED tv

Product was very impressive. Too bad nobody at the Sony stores
knew what they were selling. This product is much better than any
competitor's product
Warning : Failed after 1 year, If you have to have a Sony XBR then buy Extended Warranty or BUY another brand

Review Date: May 12, 2010
Reviewer: T. Lam, San Jose, CA USA
Here's my story, hope someone can learn from my tragic mistake. Furthermore, I just realized the LCD panel is actually made by Samsung NOT Sony. If you buy a Sony TV; why is the LCD Panel (the most important and expensive part of the TV) is made in Korea by Samsung. The picture might be good but how long will it last.....for me it only lasted 1 year and 4 months. Also If you do a simple search on Amazon you will find that Amazon does not sell Sony XBR LCD TV directly anymore since I guess they have so many complaints from their customers on the Sony LCD TV. Go ahead look and see you can find Amazon selling Sony XBR LCD TV directly...Amazon actually refer you to another brand like LG or other brands when you are looking any Sony XBR LCD TVs.....and my Full Story below:

5/9/2010- I brought the Sony XBR series TV on Amazon about 1 year and 4 months ago and now the TV have failed. The picture quality was amazing until just yesterday the picture started to degrade and now it has green clouds and rainbows all over the pictures. I just call the Sony authorize tech service from they said it will cost me $75 for the in house service since it's out of warranty. They also said that if it's the LCD panels has failed then it would cost as much as the TV itself. This is my first LCD from Sony but I have 3 other Sony TVs- 1 30" Sony CRT, 1 47" XBR rear projection and 1 65" XBR rear projection TV. All the previous Sony TVs had no problem at all and I am still using the 65" rear projection TV. What happen to Sony's quality and reliability product? I guess it went to the same place as other first rated Japanese products like Toyota. They are just too busy on cutting cost and lower their reliabilities so they can rack in the billion dollars profit. So if you like the picture quality of Sony TVs; be advice to buy their extended warranty. I wish I did because if the LCD panel failed then my LCD TV is just a big 52" black picture frame hanging on the wall. If you really, really have to get a Sony XBR LCD TV then I would recommend to get 5 years extended warranty plan for $299-it will save you a lot of frustration. And after 5 years, you will probably do a upgrade anyway.

5/11/2010 update: Today the tech came and verified that the LCD panel has gone bad after 1 year and 4 months of service. In the tech's own words-the panel is a factory defect since it should not failed after just a little over a year of service and that I should call Sony and see they will reimburse the cost of the panel. I am so disappointed on the product since I did not just buy any Sony TV but the top of the line XBR series TV. I called Sony and told them the whole story but they just told me to fax all the documents -receipt and repair cost to Sony and they will evaluate it. I will wait and see what happen - but at this point I am really disappointed and frustrated with the whole thing! :-(

Update: 5/13/2010-Just received a call from Sony "Customer Relations" today. It's official-Sony don't stand behind their products. They will not pay for the cost of their defective LCD panel since it's out of warranty (1 year) after 1 year and 4 month of service. They just lost a loyal customer. No more Sony products in my house. Sony customer relations representative even has the nerve to offer me $900 reimbursement on a $$3517.75 repair cost. That's right-I will have to pay $2617.76 to fix my $2018.88 LCD TV. So if you buy a Sony TV and you have a defective LCD panel after 1 year of use then you can just throw that TV in the trash because Sony will tell you go F yourself and trash the TV. Good luck on buying a Sony LCD TV because you going to need it-and looks like from my research, I am not the only customer that have a defect LCD panel after 1 year. In fact, the LCD panel is not even made by Sony but Samsung made in Korea. Samsung LCD Panels have notoriously for premature failure of their LCD panels. So no more Sony LCD for me or should I say Samsung LCD TV ....

This tv is a great tv. I would highly recommend to buy this TV. Great color, all we had to do is turn on the T.V. never adjusted the first thing. Had done alot of research before we bought. Paying extra was well worth it.

Stunning!

Review Date: June 20, 2009
Reviewer: BTinHouston, Houston, TX, USA
I have owned the Mitsubishi LaserVue since May 24, 2009. I could not be more satisfied with this TV. Blu-Rays look flawless with natural fluid motion, even with fast paced action scenes. The brightness of the image far surpasses the LCD and LED-LCD competition. Dark scene detail is the best that I have seen. My previous set was an early Samsung DLP. Reviewers have commented on the narrow viewing angle of DLP-type televisions. The viewing angle on the LaserVue is far broader than any DLP television, especially laterally. Even vertically, the viewing angle is better than my old Samsung DLP. My LaserVue sits on a BDI Deploy Max 9640-1, Extra wide Open TV Stand - Gloss Black stand, about 19 inches high. Wii games are playable twelve feet away without problems in viewing. The placement in my family room is on the long wall ( 24 feet ) and an excellent image is viewable from all seating positions. What really separates this TV from the competition, however, is the color rendition. Of the three color settings, "Natural", "Bright", and "Brilliant", I keep the TV mostly on "Natural", and even at this setting, the color is astounding. The "Bright" setting is used only when there is extreme ambient light, such as when there is direct sunlight streaming through the blinds behind the TV. The "Brilliant" setting seems to extrapolate the color into a range broader than originally intended or recorded. The Blu-Ray of the movie WALL-E looks incredible on this setting.

I must make some comments about a very positive experience with Mitsubishi as a company and the customer service that I have received. My first LaserVue did have a defect. The picture would occasionally shift in tone, as if the color temperature had been changed from cool to warm. I contacted my dealer, who in turn contacted Mitsubishi. I received telephone call from both a Mitsubishi customer service representative as well as an engineer from company headquarters in California. My set was replaced within a week and I received follow-up calls ensure that all was ok.

Many people are put off by the price of this television. I purchased the LaserVue and the stand at a very high-end Home theater store in Houston, where far costlier televisions were on display. One evening, near closing time, I was the only customer in the store. Most of the high-end televisions have promotional Blu-Ray DVDs playing to demonstrate the strengths of their products. My salesman allowed me to play these DVDs on the Laservue. It was really no contest. After this exercise, the LaserVue really seemed like a bargain, especially when considering that there should be no degradation of the image in the life of this television.
Blown away by this picture!

My brother just bought this and I'm very impressed with the pic quality. I want to start by saying I own a Sony XBR4 and an XBR6, and I have the baseline settings for XBR4 at AVS, so I know pic quality.

This is an amazing TV, super vivid colors, deep blacks and smooth motion. The only con is that is not a flat panel and cannot be wall mounted. If wall mounting is not a big deal, and you can afford the high price, then this is by far the best big-screen out there(over 55"), beating the Pio Elite Pro 111FD 60" model for color accuracy.

If size is not a big deal, the Pio Elite 50" pro111FD is probably better because its gettable for under 2k. The Sony XBR4,6 are the best LCD's at any size.

Mitsubishi hits a home run.....now please lower the price, so most can afford.
Goosebump-Inducingly AWESOME

Ignore the "haters" reviews if you want the true skinny on this incredible, must-see-it-to-believe-it television. After copious research, my husband and I were 99% sure this was the TV we wanted...but there was one problem. There wasn't a store in our entire state that had one on the floor for us to see in person. With a purchase this expensive, that poses a giant obstacle. Do we buy it sight-unseen? Yikes! (We live in Michigan, and when I called Mitsubishi's general service line, I was told there was a store that had one on the floor...in Tennessee.)

Ultimately, we did buy it sight-unseen...directly from Amazon. (I would be cautious about buying it from any of the shadier internet appliance dealers, though - even among Amazon's own 'marketplace' sellers.) The set arrived very quickly, but we did have a problem: thin vertical lines running across 90% of the screen. I called the special number for Laservue owners and spoke directly with a real, live human being in California right away. They immediately arranged to have my set replaced with a brand-new set and have the faulty set shipped back to CA so they could examine it in person. For the incredibly low price for which we purchased this TV from Amazon (under $4K), I didn't mind a bit. Even in the few days it took for the new set to arrive, my husband and I watched the defective set with something approaching awe. The sharpness, the black levels, the otherworldly quality of the color when set on 'Brilliant' mode...it's indescribable. I'm so incredibly glad we didn't settle for a plasma with their distractingly reflective screens or an LED-LCD. The Mitsubishi Laservue leaves them all in the dust.

The new set arrived and "glorious" is a decent word to describe the picture quality. And if you're watching something in HD? It's like you can reach right through the screen and touch what you're seeing. I had to laugh when I found my husband utterly absorbed in a cooking show (something he NEVER watches), and when I called his name, all he could manage was to whisper "It all looks so delicious!", never once taking his eyes off the screen. I know what he means, though - you feel like you can actually smell and taste the food that is seen on this set.

The set itself is really slim and the case is beautifully sleek. I understand you can hang the Laservue on the wall, but since I've never been one to want to hang my TV on the wall itself, that didn't matter one way or another.

I can understand how some people are frustrated, having thought that this technology would be more widely available from other manufacturers by now and therefore more cost-competitive. I can even understand how some people hear the words "rear projection" and scoff at the notion of a television that is a rear projection selling for over $5,000.00. But I can tell you from firsthand experience that this television is worth every dime of its current price, and the angry reviews are written by people who don't own one and probably have never even seen one. Take them with more than a grain of salt.

Could we have afforded this television at its current market price? Sadly, no. I do hope that Mitsubishi will expand production so that brick-and-mortar stores that want to sell them can have them on hand, and that they consider expanding the Laservue line to screen sizes both larger and smaller. If they did so, I can't help but think they would have a runaway success on their hands, especially if they could come down in price even a bit. I also hope that other maufacturers jump into this technology with both feet and give Mitsubishi a run for their money.

But make no mistake - this television is so good, it makes every known superlative adjective seem banal. Mitsubishi rightly provides a level of customer service for this incredibly expensive TV that one would expect, and after having dealt with them, I can vouch for their commitment to complete satisfaction for the customers who are willing to take the plunge and buy a Laservue. But at that price, they'd darn well BETTER, right?

Still, if you want the kind of television that makes people's jaws drop open when they come over and makes everyone in your family grin like a mindless fool every time they watch it, consider the Mitsubishi Laservue. You *won't* regret it.
laservue is the best TV in the world!!!

Review Date: August 27, 2009
Reviewer: cliffhanger, new hampshire
I find it kind of funny that anyone who owns the laservue is very quick to rate it with 5 solid stars, yet people who don't own one can't afford it, or simply think it is overpriced, are really quick to give it 1 star. These are the people who really wish they could have one.
If you want the best 65" television in the world, by all means get a laservue. The colors, black levels, picture quality, and efficiency are just amazing, which is what you really want in a TV at the end of the day.

Product Description

Now you can play your entertainment library on one versatile machine. Since the 32LV67 has both a DVD player and a 32-inch screen, you won't have to worry about connecting different electronic components in order to watch your favorite program. This convenience is matched only by its smart, stylish design.

The Value of LCD TVs
Aside from their obvious aesthetic value, LCD TVs are much more practical in the home than CRT (tube-style) televisions. They take up a smaller footprint, and thus use up less floor space in the room. Also, LCD TVs are lighter and easier to move around when cleaning or redecorating. The 32LV67 is only 4.65 inches deep and weighs less than 37 pounds. Best of all, LCD screens use less power than CRTs and plasma screens.

Full-Featured DVD Player
The 32LV67 includes an integrated, slot-loading DVD player. It has upconverting technology that improves the standard picture definition of regular DVDs to match the 1366 x 768 (720p HDTV) display resolution of the 32LV67.

Connections
The set has a built-in digital television tuner, so out of the box it can receive digital broadcast ATSC signals and QAM signals used by most digital cable providers. It also has a built-in 181-channel NTSC tuner, so it can also accept traditional analog signals. It is also capable of these connections:

  • HDMI inputs: 3
  • ColorStream HD component video inputs: 2
  • PC monitor input: 1 (VGA 15 Pin D-Sub)
  • RF input: 1 rear
  • A/V inputs: 2 (rear and side)
  • Optical audio output: 1

Audio
The SoundStrip speaker system hides the unit's speakers in a thin strip bordering the screen. They're powerful enough to deliver big stereo sound, but they don't add significantly to the size of the set.

Toshiba's StableSound feature maintains television volume within a preset range regardless of the source signal. This is an extremely useful feature when transitioning between a quiet television program and a very loud commercial advertisement or when changing channels.

SRS WOW, a combination of SRS 3D, TruBass, and Focus sound-expanding systems, create a 3-D sound field with improved bass response over standard TV audio and create directed, three-dimensional audio sweet spot for maximum enjoyment. The cabinet includes stereo speakers, but the TV also has optical digital output for connecting to your audio system.

Other Features
Channel browser shows you thumb-nail images of the last five channels you've watched at the touch of a button. You can also see previews of your preset Favorite Channels along the bottom of the screen.

Inexpensive quality LCD HDTV with DVD Player

Review Date: April 13, 2007
Reviewer: C. J. Cox,
Pros: Great high contrast screen, built in DVD player, built in speakers, side audio/video in ports, 3 HDMI ports, computer port. And finally, price.... oh.. and yes, it actually has a ATSC Tuner!!

Cons: Menus aren't too intuitive... sometimes tries to be too simple, other times it too difficult. Some settings are not remembered, you have to set them over and over and over and over... Unit came with an immediate flash upgrade (flash card included), wasn't expecting that. DVD is not Bluray or HD-DVD. No PIP... which is typical nowadays, just seems a shame to waste all of those inputs.

This is an excellent HDTV for the price. Having the built in DVD is a plus BUT it is not a HD DVD unit... just a normal DVD. This unit is going into my daughter's upstairs den. Highly recommended. I tested against LG, Samsung, Phillips and Westinghouse. The Toshiba picture was a good as the best from the others and had the additional features.
I am impressed

Review Date: September 24, 2007
Reviewer: Paul E. Guy,
Needed a decent compact tv for a small apartment I keep in the city for work. This 32" weighes under 40 lbs., has amazing picture and sound, and with a built in progressive scan DVD requires, only one plug in, sits compactly on a standard end table, and works with only one remote (and no extra cables except cable in). It sure exceeded my expectations. -- And for the girlies out there, it's kind of pretty. (Only downside: no swivel or tilt.)
Highly Recommended

Review Date: June 26, 2007
Reviewer: I. Donaldson,
Excellent TV with plenty of options. We upgraded to HD cable shortly afterwards and we were immensely impressed by the increase in picture quality over our previous TV (27" CRT Sony Trinitron) with regular cable. Obviously the built-in DVD player isn't HD or Blu-ray... that would have driven the price up another $500 or so and the selection/price of HD DVDs and Blu-ray discs aren't yet worth the investment. However, the built-in DVD player is upconverting so you can upgrade your TV and DVD player all at once.

The only downside is the large amount of heat generated by the set. But, this is a small inconvenience in comparison to how much happier we are with the new TV. BUY IT!

I bought this due to its high rating from Consumer Reports. I am not disappointed one bit. The set is attractive (black frame) and the HD picture quality is superb. The only drawback is the built-in DVD player which is not HDDVD or Blue Ray capabable. As more and more disks come out in HD, I will likely be forced to purchase another DVD player to view them in HD.

The Red Sox won the world Series and I watched every moment on my new Toshiba Regaza 32" HDLCD/DVD TV!

I am legally blind, but I can see a quality image. I am also in an electric chair with MS, but I didn't want to have to sit up close. I shopped online for about three months, read many, many reviews and narowed my choice to Toshiba. As the purchase date got closer, I called multiple vendors in the OKC metro area, shopping price and delivery/set-up options. Nothing avaiable could compete with the choices from Amazon.

As the Sox appeared to be going to the AlCS playoffs, I began to fear missing a game. My dad was "Babe Ruth's batboy and while I waited my whole life for the 2004 victory, I didn't think I'd live to see a second championship. Oklahoma is not Red Sox nation, but as a card carrying member, I was determined to participate fully.

When it bame clear that I would save hundreds of dollars by buying online, I took the plunge and called in the order to avoid many possible misunderstanding. I also elected to spend $12.00 more to buy direct from Amazon in order to get free delivery and assure a wrinkle free purchase in case I didn't think the value equaled the price. I think the Amazon tool of clicking "talk to a live person is great! I got a call-back in less than 60 seconds, twice! The TV was delivered free and unpacked by "White Glove FedEX" ahead of the promised date and only 5 days later! Because of being able to track the delivery online, I had scheduled my cable provider to come 2 hours after unpacking and the setup was completed at no additional cost.

I am so thrilled with the quality and service that I have decided to replace my bedroom TV with another Toshiba from Amazon.

I didn't expect the perks of 'stretch and 2 zoom levels" that HD service includes. What a great way to watch reruns of impossible catches! The investment in my Toshiba and monthly HD service has given me new options to participate in life. Thank you Amazon and Toshiba.
